FAQ

  • How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncturists used needles to stimulate points along the body’s meridian channels that have been studied for thousands of years. Accessing these meridians can help prevent and treat disease by unblocking the flow of qi (energy) in the body as well as releasing endorphins, hormones, and other chemicals that affect whole body health and wellness.

  • What is a treatment like?

Customized care begins with a thorough evaluation of the patient’s condition which is used to determine the root cause of imbalance in the body. The needles are placed on the body according to the uniquely tailored treatment strategy developed for the individual to bring harmony and health back to the body. Needles are left in place for 20-25 minutes, during which many patients report a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation which continues when the treamtent is concluded.

  • Will the needles hurt?

Often the patient hardly notices the single use, sterile needles enter the body since they are as thin as a hair and applied precisely with specific depth and insertion angle. The patient may experience the arrival of the energy called “de qi” as a dull ache or electric sensation but that usually dissipates in less than a minute.

  • What can acupuncture treat?

There are many modern studies showing the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating a variety of conditions including insomnia, chronic pain, neuropathy, fatigue, headaches, digestive problem, allergies, arthritis, as well as mental health concerns like stress, anxiety, and more.

  • How soon can I expect results?

Treatment with acupuncture can produce rapid results, however chronic conditions will require longer treatment. Patients are advised to begin their regime with treatment once a week then continuing bi-monthly or monthly for maintenance as conditions improve.

  • Do you accept insurance?

We are working on becoming an in-network provider with BCBS. Currently, direct billing is not an option, however patients may request a “superbill” to submit to insurance for reimbursement. Health savings account cards are accepted, but it is advised the patient check with their insurance provider first.
